Tahiyah Brinkley
Vice Chairperson

Kyra-Lee's motivation behind wanting to step up as Regional Vice Chair comes from her experience with being a part of the REB as the PCI Chair/ PCI CPC and learning from her various interactions with the board and membership. It is her desire as Vice Chair to help the REB have a CLEAR VISION that will translate to NSBE's membership and remind them that they will always be heard. Outside of NSBE, she love to cook, watch spoken word/poetry, watch Law & Order: SVU and she's a huge Harry Potter Fan. She believes that her life is used as a vessel to support others and help them to fulfill their own life’s purpose. Two quotes that she has curated and lives by are: “The only true failure is if you stop trying” and “You are never too young to have a voice”. #KyraSpeaks #WeWillGetThroughThisTogether #ActivateTheWord #GodsGotUs

Shaneil Da'Silva
Treasurer

Sarah joined NSBE during her undergraduate years at New Jersey Institute of Technology. She joined NSBE because she wanted to help shape the future for those coming after her. This is her second year on the REB and she initially decided to join because she did not want her time with NSBE to end simply because she was done with her undergraduate degree. In her personal time, she enjoys reading, playing the guitar and like most people binging TV shows.

Fun Fact: Sarah have a fridge magnet collection from all the places (countries/US states) she has visited and recently started a sticker collection.

Orianna Carter
Programs Chair

Orianna is a senior at New York Institute of Technology studying Electrical & Computer Engineering. She was first introduced to NSBE her freshmen year, at an activity fair where she spotted a small crowd of Black people. She made a pit-stop at the table since her school had a small black population, and it was NSBE! She had never heard of them prior, but is so glad she found them that day. She joined the board her freshman year as PCI chair, and has been on since. She joined the REB after attending RLC her junior year of college. She left inspired with so much information that she learned from the workshop speakers and holding a position on the board in general. She wanted to apply this knowledge and be a better student leader on her chapter board, and better student overall.

Ezekiel Gunnison
Parliamentarian

Ezekiel is a senior at Northeastern University studying Electrical Engineering. He was first introduced to NSBE while being a member of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP), a majority chemistry/biology major organization. He looked to find other engineering organizations that would be a better fit and NSBE filled that gap. He joined the REB because as R1 parliamentarian, making sure that the governing documents which govern NSBE are robust and reputable is a focus that he would like to aid in amending. In addition, joining NSBE allowed him to connect with other future leaders and further develop his career by gaining access to employers and connections in the industry. He also saw how much the representation of the student body was diminished and wanted to be a force in changing that for the better.

Jeff Lamothe
Chairperson Emeritus

The REB for Kweku is an excellent opportunity to network and grow as a leader while giving back to his NSBE community. He believes that life becomes meaningful when you live to serve others. This belief fuels his passion for NSBE and has framed his identity as a leader.

Outside of NSBE, he's passionate about music, renewable energy, and basketball. He spends much time singing and playing instruments in church. His dream is to make a major contribution to the field of research of renewable energy sources to make the world better for the generations to come. Otherwise, one can find him on the courts of Worcester.

Tyrell Michuki
Telecommunications Chair

Tyrell is a senior at New Jersey Institute of Technology studying Information Technology. He was introduced to NSBE his freshman year from older friends who were part of the chapter executive board. From there, he went from attending the first few meetings to almost everything, and has only furthered that in the time post COVID. He joined the REB after taking part in everything it had to offer (conferences + campus events) and benefitting from these offerings (both virtual and in person) his junior year, as well as seeing friends in leadership embrace and excel their roles. He realized he had technical skills that could benefit NSBE, and wanted to lead for the next generation the way he had seen his friends do in years prior, but in his areas of expertise.

Aleye Momodu Headshot.jpg

Shaneil DaSilva
Treasurer

Benjamin applied for the REB because NSBE as an organization has helped him a lot in the society where each one helps one. That community feel and atmosphere together with what the society stands for gave this sense of engagement and readiness to put in work to assist in reaching its goals. He believes giving back to the community is important as it allows people the opportunity to become active members and leave a positive impact on the society. Benjamin likes to play basketball, go to events/parties, politics, and anime. Fun fact if he could have any superpower it would be the ability to control time. Benjamin is honored to serve as your Assistant Treasurer of the most Fiyah region in NSBE. “If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” ― Martin Luther King J #1FIYAH

Sarah Johnson

My name is Aleye Okhipo and I am so excited to be your RLC Chair for 2020-2021. Aleye applied to become the RLC Chair because she is very passionate about NSBE and she wants to ensure that the NSBE Region 1 ‘Fiyah’ is present in every chapter meeting. If you couldn’t already tell from her head-shot her favorite color is pink. She loves hiking, playing volleyball, travelling and watching TV shows. Her favorite hike she's done so far is Table Mountain in South Africa and her favorite place she's traveled to so far is China. The motto she lives by is ‘anything worth doing is worth doing well’. This means to put your heart and soul into everything you do.

Hi y’all! I am Dia Brown; I use she/her/hers and am so thrilled to be on the REB. After being in NSBE Jr. in high school, she knew she wanted to be in NSBE in college. However, UVM did not have a chapter—so she made one! she wants to continue working for her fellow engineers which led her to being on the REB! In her spare time she gardens, goes on long walks, and reads. Her favorite quote is from Donnie McClurkin, “After you’ve done all you can, you just stand.” Look forward to working with the region!

&

Public Relations Chair

Being apart of the NSBE Family and serving on the REB is one of the most fulfilling ventures Jalen believes he can partake in as a leader, engineer, and black individual. While serving as president of the RPI Chapter, he grew a passion to provide our membership with the tools and experience needed to succeed which has led him to where he is now. In his free time he's either playing basketball, football, watching Naruto, or cracking jokes with family and friends. A motto he lives by is "Chase Your Fears." Strive to break those barriers within yourself and in others to discover your limitless capabilities.

Karisma McCoy

PCI Chairperson

“Be the change you want to see” - unknown. Karisma applied for the REB in order to further her aspirations of encouraging young children in communities of color to explore areas of STEM. As a child, she did not have opportunities to interact with people of color in STEM fields or people to encourage her to think about becoming an engineer or scientist, so she didn’t think it was possible for her. Thus, she joined the REB as PCI Chairperson in order to provide young engineers with opportunities and resources they need to accomplish their dreams. Currently, she is an undergraduate researcher at the Center for Discovery and Innovation leveraging her knowledge in chemistry and physics to develop new innovations in nanotechnology. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, binge watching anime, and talking about anime.

Fun fact: When she was younger, she was a ballerina and a classical pianist.

Nogaye Ka

Academic Excellence Chair

Nogaye's life goal has always been to be involved in meaningful work and to help people combat the challenges they face, no matter how small or big. It's the reason why she's passionate in the transformative work that NSBE stands for as well as interested in the potentiality of engineering. She lives by the motto, "Vision without action is a daydream" and believes that by being part of the REB we can help to fulfill the NSBE mission all across the region. In her personal time she enjoys learning new skills like doing hair, money/finances, riding a bike (sadly) and being goofy with her family and friends.

Fun Fact: Throughout her life, Nogaye has learned 7 languages: Wolof, English, French, Spanish, Latin, Italian and Mandarin
